A magnitude 5.0 earthquake has struck offshore Atacama, Chile at a depth of 42.2 km ( 26 miles), the quake hit at 04:27:19 UTC Friday 28th October 2011.The epicenter was 107 km ( 66 miles) SSW of Taltal, Antofagasta, Chile
